Stakeholders in the education sector have been asked to address the gender imbalance in the institutions of higher learning.
Speaking during an event of students who graduated recently from various colleges at Nandet in Uasin Gishu County on Monday, Francis Nyarombe, a senior lecturer at Kisii University said that there is a need for all stakeholders to ensure that both genders are well represented in the institutions.
"Nowadays if you go to many public universities and institutions of higher learning you find that in a population of say ten students eight are ladies, Boys are out drinking because they are not taking these courses seriously. We need to look at this matter," said Nyarombe.
Nyarombe has also asked the institutions of higher learning to offer courses that are relevant to Kenyan market needs and also beyond.
"We do not have enough national resources nowadays. What we need to capitalise on is education and we have to be able to offer courses that market our graduates beyond our borders," Nyarombe added.
