Human rights activists’ in Kisumu are now demanding for the arrest of an MCA from Kakamega County Assembly who is accused of intentionally hitting a 25 year old woman with a car in Kisumu last week.

The lady who is now unable to walk has been admitted at the Victoria hospital in Kisumu. Speaking at her hospital bed today, the lady Known as Dorah Clara Ojenge, said the MCA owed her kshs 5,000 and attempts to get it paid has borne no fruit.

She says he met the MCA last week on Thursday night at a night club and when she tried asking for the debt the man became wild, kicked her, shot in the air using his gun and then hit her with the car.

“ He came back to me, slapped me and gave me a kick he then went to his car, drew a gun and started shooting in the air before he got back to the car and hit me with the vehicle, She said.

Activists led by Chairman of Kisumu City Residents Voice (KICIREVO) Audi Ogada and Margaret Omondi of Women Concerns Centre who visited the hospital today are demanding for action.

Ogada says they had forced police to record the girls’ statement at the hospital adding that the police want to treat the matter casually.

Omondi on her part said the MCA is well known adding that they cannot sit and watch such inhuman gender violence act committed on women. “ We need justice to be done, the MCA is know, we don’t even know whether this lady will ever walk again, She said. Attempts to reach the MCA for his comments failed after his phone went unanswered.
