Alego Usonga MP George Omondi said when that is done, then Kenyans will have better access to improved healthcare services.

The MP said the current arrangement is making it difficult for the ordinary Kenyans to access proper medical services in the public hospitals, thus making Kenya an ailing nation.

He said this is as a result of mismanagement of funds allocated by the National Treasury to the counties for the purchase of medical equipment and the hiring of medical staff in the public health facilities.

Speaking to the press, the MP accused the governors of mismanaging the county funds at the expense of locals' healthcare ‘

"They have failed in their mandate of ensuring locals receive better healthcare and this function must be withdrawn from their docket," he said.

He is now calling upon stakeholders in the health sector to look into modalities that will ensure that the health docket is managed by the national government.

He said governors have failed to hire new nurses and purchase hospital medical equipment to the hospitals despite receiving the funds for these activities from the National Treasury.

The MP is also a member of the budget committee in the national assembly.
