Speaking at Kikuyu town, Ichung’wa said that it would be necessary for the government to ensure law and order were maintained.

The MP said that security of Kenyans was important and should be taken with the seriousness it deserves.

“My appeal is to the security officials to ensure that Kikuyu residents and Kenyans at large are safe,” said the MP.

Ichung’wa asked the police to intensify security patrols and deal with individuals and groups that might want to cause problems.

He asked residents to embrace each other and use the festive season to support the needy in the society.

He said that the festive season was meant for people to share and extend their love to the less fortunate in the society.

Ichung’wa said that Kenyans were known as peaceful, generous and loving people and therefore requested them to shun leaders who would want to divide them.

Meanwhile, the lawmaker accused the opposition leaders of plotting to cause havoc in the country by calling for mass actions.

“Mass actions will not address the grievances being held by Cord over the security laws,” said Ichung’wa.

He alleged that Cord MPs squandered the only chance they had to contribute to the security laws that were passed by Parliament a few days ago.

Ichung’wa said that the government plan to end insecurity across the country was being hindered by the opposition leaders whom he alleged were using baseless arguments to discredit the government.
