Principal Secretary for Housing and Planning Charles Hinga has praised Nakuru County over impressive results in the ongoing census exercise.
This is after revelations that 88 per cent of targeted houses have been counted in the exercise that began last Saturday.
Speaking during a supervising exercise in Kihoto estate, Naivasha, Hinga praised the county leadership and census staff over the work done.
He expressed optimism that by the end of the exercise on Saturday, everyone in Nakuru County will have been counted.
He also said the government has put in place enough measures to ensure the exercise is a success and everyone is counted.
“Nakuru County has so far recorded 88 per cent in terms of coverage while in Naivasha town the figures stand at 89 per cent and this is very impressive. We hope that by the end of Saturday all those who have missed out will get a chance to be counted in this exercise that is very critical,” said the PS as quoted by the Standard
Hinga further urged residents to give accurate information to the census officials to allow the government to plan well while allocating resources and also for the planning of State’s affordable housing programme.
“Some of the questions asked surround the issue of the type of houses one is living and the number of occupants and this is critical in our planning,” he noted.
