In a series of tweets, Miguna said that the Bill is a good idea but it has many loopholes.

He claimed that Uhuru, who is completing his second and final term in power, can take advantage of the Bill to remain at the helm of power.

“I don't support the #PunguzaMizigoBill2019 bill because I believe that Despot Uhuru Kenyatta will use the proposed amendment to article 142 of the Constitution to cling to power. But I fully support the rights of 1.2M Kenyans who appended their signatures to the initiative,” he tweeted.

He also said that stoppage of the debate of the Bill at the county assemblies and Parliament is a big blow to Aukot. He asked the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to be fair to millions of Kenyans who appended their signatures over the bill.

“This is not fair to @EAukot. Any Kenyan has a right to initiate a popular referendum. They don't need a war-chest of millions of shillings to do that because, by law, the @IEBCKenya must conduct a referendum AFTER the popular initiatives pass,” he tweeted.
