Bondeni Children Rescue Centre, a charitable children's institution based in Athi River town, Machakos County is facing an acute financial crisis.
The home's Director Florence Gitau Wednesday said she is facing adverse challenges to maintain the over 40 children currently hosted at the centre.
"It is hell here, we are finding it difficult to provide children in this home with all the basics needs which they require on a daily basis," said Gitau.
Gitau said they had been forced to move the children from Nzau Academy where they were admitted for only one term from Mavoko Primary School.
She said the children's local sponsors and foreign donors who were supporting their education had withdrawn, forcing them to move the children to cheaper private schools within Athi River town.
The director disclosed that they were finding it difficult to pay rent, feed the children, settle electricity and water bills alongside other miscellaneous expenses.
Gitau said they had therefore, organised for a fund raiser to be conducted on November 1 at the home to raise funds to help clear bills and support the children.
She called on the local leaders, donors and sponsors to come to the aid of the home and save it from collapsing.
