At least 100 primary schools from Nyamira county will receive examination revision materials donated by an aspiring women representative through her recently launched foundation.
The US-based doctor, Joy Kerubo, launched the program through her Joy Kerubo Foundation in a bid to improve performances in primary education level.
A section of Nyamira county schools will receive the materials by the end of the week, with the remaining schools expected to receive their share in the coming week.
Through the foundation’s coordinator Mr Kefa Osiri, she urged teachers to utilise the remaining time to effectively prepare class eight pupils before they sit for their KCPE exams in November.
“Joy Foundation is keen to see improved performance in our schools. It is not yet late and teachers can seize the opportunity and use the revision materials we have provided. We have a potential as a county and we ought to demonstrate that,” Mr Osiri said.
According to him, the foundation was in the process of launching an annual test in the month of June that will target Form Four students and class eight candidates.
“As a foundation under the leadership of Joy (Kerubo), we have written to the Ministry of Education seeking permission to start an annual test that will be set by our local teachers for our candidates to assess the impact they are making,” he added.
The Foundation was launched in June as a centre of coordinating health related issues and it has since expanded to education sector.
