Amakama ECDE center in Borabu constituency becomes the latest structure to be completed by the county government of Nyamira as the county targets to construct at least 50 classes to supplement those already in existence.
The center, which is expected to be launched by Nyamira county governor John Nyagarama on Monday next week is expected to serve children from Nyansiongo ward and its environs.
Speaking on Tuesday during the inspection of the structure, Nyansiongo MCA Jackson Mogusu urged parents to enroll their young ones for early education training.
“I am happy as the area MCA to be part of this great work. What remains now is parents to send their children next year for enrollment. We need to see more children enrolled to ECDE centers for early training unlike in the past when we joined schools at an older age,” he said.
Mogusu, who also leads the minority in the county government of Nyamira called for expeditious recruitment of ECDE teachers, pointing at a slow process by the County Public Service Board (CPSB).
“We need more ECDE teachers to sustain the structures being put across the entire county. The CPSB is a bit slow in conducting interviews and in employing people. They had advertised the posts sometimes back but until now, now one has been shortlisted,” he added.
According to him, increased enrollment will improve the literacy level in the county and bring about improved performances in national exams.
