Nakuru East Chief Mary Kamau says that the cons are also targeting those engaged in small scale businesses.

“These con people are claiming that they can help youth get sh.50,000 deposited in their accounts within weeks after registering with Sh200 or Sh500. Please I advise the youth to seek for information about Uwezo Fund loans from relevant offices and avoid being conned,’’ said Kamau.

While addressing residents at a public baraza at her office grounds on Friday said that the people were going around collecting money from unsuspecting youth claiming they were connected to Uwezo Fund secretariat and would help them secure the fund money quickly.

Kamau added that some of the people claimed that they were registering self-help groups to guarantee securing the loans.

The chief advised local youth to seek proper information from the Ministry of youth or Huduma Centre in Nakuru town on how to form groups or how those in existing groups could access the funds.

She added that she had received several complaints about the con people and that her office in conjunction with police was investigating the matter.
