Politicians from the Gusii community have been asked to maintain peace and unity ahead of the release of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report by Kisii Governor James Ongwae.
While speaking on Saturday at Bunyunyu SDA Church in West Mugirango, Nyamira County, where he attended a fund drive towards the development of the church, the ODM county chief challenged politicians to embrace unity irrespective of their political parties.
"As politicians we may differ on political matters but I urge every leader to preach peace as we wait for the release of the BBI report. BBI should not bring divisions after all what we want as a community is development," said Ongwae.
The second term governor exuded confidence that the BBI report once made public, politicians and members of the public will have an opportune time to read and accept the recommendations.
"I do not know what the BBI report contains but once it is public I will read it. We should all read the report and accept any changes which may be recommended in the report," he stated.
He reiterated the need for local leaders to shun divisive politics and give humble time for the leaders in office to serve the electorates.
