Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna has dared the Jubilee party to field former Kenya international footballer McDonald Mariga in the upcoming Kibra by-election.
Speaking during an interview at Radio Citizen, Sifuna said ODM is ready for any candidate, including Mariga.
"We are ready for the Jubilee party candidate for Kibra. Even if they bring the football player, we are ready. (Tuko tayari kumenyana na mgombezi wa chama cha @JubileePartyK, Kibra. Hata walete mchezaji mpira, tuko tayari!)," he said.
During the interview, Sifuna revealed names of candidates who have been cleared by ODM for Saturday's nomination exercise.
Sifuna's remarks come at a time when the Jubilee party is faced with controversies over an alleged fake letter, indicating a list of individuals who are reportedly seeking the party's ticket in the Kibra by-election.
On Monday, Jubilee party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju disowned the letter, terming it fake.
However, some leaders allied to the party still claim the letter is authentic.
The Kibra seat fell vacant after former MP Ken Okoth succumbed to cancer in July.
