Uasin Gishu government has been urged to enroll nurses in the county pension scheme like other staff.
The Kenya National Union of Nurses chairman John Bii said nurses have been discriminated against in the pension scheme being offered to other employees and yet they are also under the county government.
"Since the Uasin Gishu government nurses have not been entitled to save their money in pension schemes and yet other county workers are entitled on the same, are we not like other workers," said the union boss.
He said the nurses just like other county government officials are entitled to pension schemes and the devolved unit should act with speed to include them in the scheme.
"I urge the Uasin Gishu government to include nurses in the county pension scheme since they are also its staff so that they can enjoy the privileges like other employees,” he added.
He was addressing journalists on Thursday at the Uasin Gishu District Hospital.
He, however, urged nurses not to enroll in the pension scheme being fronted by the county government saying its fate is unknown and might lead them into a ditch.
