A seven-year-old nursery school boy was on Tuesday afternoon knocked to death by a truck ferrying wood to a tea factory.
The accident which involved a lorry belonging to a tea factory happened barely 200 metres from the factory.
It comes a day after another lorry veered off the road at Sironga trading centre where one person was killed and three others seriously injured.
According to an eye witness who sought anonymity for fear of victimisation, the driver of the ill fated truck sped off to the Nyamira Police Station after the accident.
Irate residents gave police officers hard time before collecting the body from the scene. It was not until anti-riot police officers arrived at the scene that the body was collected 3hours after the accident.
Nyamira OCPD Mr Rico Ngare termed the accident unfortunate and urged all drivers to be careful, observe traffic rules and respect all road users.
“This is unfortunate to lose such an innocent life. I want to warn all drivers to observe the traffic rules and be careful not to cause deaths which could have been avoided,” said Ngare.
Meanwhile investigations have been launched into the accident. The body was taken to Nyamira Hospital Mortuary awaiting post-mortem examination.
