Kisii Minister for Health Sarah Omache has asked residents to observe hygiene and sanity in homes to prevent cholera and other related diseases, as experienced in the neighboring counties of Homabay and Migori.
Speaking yesterday at Nyabioto Dispensary in Bonchari sub-county in the event where a youth, Dickson Oyugi, donated laboratory equipments to the dispensary, the Executive member challenged the community to take a personal responsibility by ensuring the environment is clean and train children to take hygienic measures.
“It’s our responsibility to observe hygiene and sanity, as one way of fighting against the outbreak of cholera. We need to embrace community strategy with slogan, my health my responsibility, in order to ensure our health is not at stake.
She hailed the well wisher, Oyugi, for putting the community in his heart by donating the machines to the level one hospital.
Bogiakumu MCA Richard Machana said the county government has allocated one million shillings, for the completion of the dispensary’s maternity ward to help delivering mothers.
“The county has allocated one million shillings for the completion of the long stalled maternity ward in the dispensary,” said the MCA.
According to Dickson Oyugi, he said he decided to give back to the society by donating lab equipments to the dispensary, after realizing the health facility was dire need of testing equipments.
“I participated in the Senator promotion Game and sailed through. There were so many gifts in various categories including personal gifts, but because I wanted to give back to the society, I settled in the society category whereby I won laboratory machines,” Oyugi said urging other youths to remember where they are raised in by giving back to the society.
