South West Kisumu Member of County Assembly Joseph Abiola has said that more students will benefit from Kisumu County bursary scheme in the coming financial year.
Speaking in Kisumu Abiola said that Kisumu County MCAs are pushing for more bursary funds since they need to accommodate more children.
“My ward has already received one million and plans are underway to release more,” said Abiola adding that the cheques will be released on Monday at Obambo.
He noted that the beneficiaries were carefully selected and all the aspects were put into considerations.
“I would like to encourage students who will miss out that they will be given priority in the next disbursement,” said Abiola.
“We have many bright students but their parents are not in a position to pay their school fees,” noted Abiola adding that the county government is looking for away to retain them in class.
Abiola noted that most of the bursary allocation goes to students in secondary schools followed by students in tertiary and University level.
He called upon students who benefiting from the fund to work hard in school so that they can realize their dreams and help to develop the county.
