The Ministry of Health will give free cancer screening to the residents to of the area starting today.

Naivasha sub-county referral hospital medical officer Dr Oren Ombiro said that they would target all spots in the area that have a huge flow of people. Among the area targeted are flower farms and open markets and in their wards “we have already approached Nini Flower farms and Panda flower farm in bid to carry out the tests. With the early testing they can be able to get proper access to medical care incase they are affected,” he added. Ombiro cited that there are 207 cancer patients in the area, with breast and cervical cancer being the leading type of the disease in the area. 

“We also have cases of stomach, othorpedical and prostrate cancer in the area.” he added. Ombiro appealed to the residents to show up for the testing goes to the wards, citing that many cancer patients came to the hospital when it was too late. He was speaking during the 2nd annual Naivasha palliative and cerebral paralysis day . “Cancer can be managed if it is detected at early age. However many people ignore it and hence it ends up killing them,” he added.
