Ruiru residents have been advised to shun leaders perpetuating hate and instead work with those that value development.
Area MP Esther Gathongo told residents to stay away from a section of leaders that she said are keen to cause a rift among them.
Speaking at Ruiru town on Monday, the MP said that she will not allow some unnamed leaders to divide her constituents.
“I want to ask you (residents) to shun leaders who are not willing to help you,” she said.
The Ruiru MP challenged leaders to focus on working for the people if they have any hopes of being re-elected.
Meanwhile, the legislator has encouraged women to seek leadership positions at both the county and the national government level.
She intimated that through leadership women would have an opportunity to better their lives and at the same time contribute to socio-economic development.
The MP added that time when women were considered irrelevant is gone and that they should use the opportunity they have to prosper themselves.
Gathongo asked women leaders from the constituency to work with closely as she aims to empower women.
