Lari sub-county traffic police boss Bernard Indeke has vowed to deal with motorists who flout traffic regulations.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, the traffic police said errant motorists will be dealt with in accordance with the law.

Indeke said that cases of road accidents have increased and attributed it to negligence of some motorists.

“We are going to deal with motorists who think they can flout traffic rules and walk away free,” he said.

The police bows revealed that at least four people have died in the past few days in road crashes at Lari town along the Nakuru-Naivasha highway.

The official asked motorists to adhere to regulations, saying most road accidents can be avoided.

He also said that they are working closely with the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) to monitor motorists.

The traffic officer an the same appealed to pedestrians to observe traffic laws. He said that cases of pedestrians being hit by vehicles have also gone up.

On Monday, a middle aged woman died after her car was hit head-on by a bus at Lari town. The woman, according to police, died while she was being taken to hospital.

Two other people in the same car survived with serious injuries.

Over the weekend, area MP Mburu Kahangara asked the government to construct bumps along the road which he said would curb road accidents.

The MP also asked the government to deal with motorists who break traffic rules and regulations.
