Speaking yesterday in Kiambu Town, during public awareness session on the dangers of the illicit liquor, Mugera said that combined effort by the residents and the Provincial Administration would have a positive impact to the vice.

“Kiambu residents should work closely with the police and the chiefs against those selling illicit liquor,” said Mugera.

He cited lack of cooperation between the residents and the Provincial Administration as the major obstacle facing the elimination of illegal brew.

“Some residents harbour criminals involved in the sale of illicit liquor making it difficult for police to arrest the culprits,” said Mugera.

He made an earnest appeal to the members of the public not to harbour brewers but pass the information to the Provincial Administration to take the necessary action.

“The Provincial Administration is the government’s eye at the grassroots and it has authority to see that the government’s directives are observed”, said Mugera.

This comes after five residents from Kiambu County perished after taking an illicit brew while nine others are fighting for their lives at Kiambu District Hospital.
