Three dead chameleons and a snake were discovered among the ingredients used by an illicit brewer during a raid in Molo

The discovery in Sakaitim Area in Turi ward saw a series of demonstrations on Wednesday afternoon with the residents demanding the resignation of the local administration.

They are now threatening to sue the local administration for failure to curb its spread which they say continues to claim lives of young people in the area.

“The brewers are well known to the police and to chiefs and their assistants. Why have they failed to stop them if they are not gaining anything from it?” asked Margaret Wairimu.

Wairimu pointed out that there has been a steady increase in the number of people who have succumbed to the drinks.

Area MCA Michael Wang’ombe called for the immediate removal of administration police and a local assistant chief accused of abating the illicit business.

“At least 7 youths have died since last year out of this drinks. Unfortunately despite our complaints the brewing still continues. We demand that the government removes them from the office as they have clearly failed in their mandate,” said Wangombe

Wangombe appealed to the youth to shun from the drinks

“We intend to start a rehabilitation process including looking for employment for the addicts who have come clean,” he added
