Nakuru County Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has urged youth in Naivasha to work with the police in order to tame rising cases of insecurity in the sub county.
Addressing residents of Maryland estate on Thursday, Mbugua said that security has been deteriorating in the area recently.
Mbugua stated that youth should come out and help the police in fight against crime adding that they could be having information that may help in the arrest of criminals.
“I want to appeal to young people and all residents to support security initiatives aimed at curbing crime in Naivasha and its environs,” he said.
Mbugua said that more police will be deployed in areas perceived to be crime-prone adding that 24 hour security operations will be conducted.
Residents have been complaining of rising insecurity and want the police to up their security operations. Recently a taxi operator was found murdered in his car as the killers went away with his valuables including money and mobile phone.
Meanwhile, Governor Mbugua has asked the youth and women in Naivasha to apply for development funds and make something out of their lives.
Mbugua said that the county has put in place enough resources meant to empower youth, women and persons with disability.
He however expressed concerns over the low number of applicants saying: “It's not right that the county has set aside enough funds for youth empowerment and yet most of them are not willing to apply,"
The Governor said that the county is committed to improving the standards of living of the people adding that adequate initiatives meant to boost peoples’ welfare are currently ongoing.
