Television social and political commentator Alutalala Mukhwana has weighed in on the church donations' debate that continues apace.
Speaking in a wide-ranging panel interview on NTV, the commentator said that the debate was targeting the deputy president Dr William Ruto because he was the one campaigning in churches.
"These guys are targeting William Ruto because they don't have the courage to tell him not to make the donations in church (Hawa mabwana (EACC) wanamlenga Ruto, wameshindwa kumwangalia na kumwambia asitoe michango." Mr Mukhwana said.
The analyst's intervention comes in the wake of a raging debate on the issue of politicians making donations in churches.
Members of the top brass of the Catholic church announced new protocols last week that are aimed at ensuring that donations from questionable sources are not given to the church.
They went ahead to impose a total ban on politicking in the church.
The issue of politicians donating to churches has elicited mixed reactions with a section of Kenyans calling on church leaders to vet politicians before accepting money from them.
Deputy President Dr Wiliam Ruto has curved a reputation for himself as generous giver to the church, raising eyebrows from those concerned about the source of his wealth.
