The National Super Alliance (NASA) alliance remains intact, Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM) leader Kalonzo Musyoka, a co-principal of the alliance, has said.

The confirmation comes at a time when the opposition coalition appears to be limping, as a result of the ongoing infighting and rivalry among member parties.

However, Kalonzo on Sunday said that until three of the four-member parties make an official exit the alliance remains intact. He noted that not even a single member has left so far.

The former Vice President added that similarly, there has not been any meeting among member parties to dissolve the coalition.

"Nobody has said that yet, I haven't heard even a single one and we haven't sat down to discuss dissolving the alliance (Kwa sasa hakuna yule amesema, sijasikia hata mmoja, na hatujaketi tukazungumza juu ya kuvunja NASA)," he said in an interview on Citizen TV on Sunday.

His remarks come at a time when his party and the Amani National Congress (ANC) and Ford Kenya appear to be having problems with the ODM party, which has since threatened to exit.

Kalonzo said that even an exit of ODM would not affect the existence of NASA, as the remaining three parties can still run the bloc.

"The remaining members will continue with the alliance until 2022. However, if three parties join hands to exit, then NASA will be dissolved (Waliosalia wataendelea na NASA hadi 2022, lakini vyama vitatu vikiungana basi NASA itakuwa imevunjiliwa mbali)," he added.

His remarks come as a contradiction to ODM boss Raila Odinga's remarks on Friday, where he noted that NASA died immediately it failed to carry the day in the 2017 elections.

Raila, who rode on the NASA ticket before losing to President Uhuru Kenyatta, said that after failing to serve its purpose which was to deliver the presidency, NASA ceased to exist.
