Residents of Jaika village in Eburru ward, Gilgil, Nakuru are in shock after a man hacked his wife to death.
Confirming the incident, Gilgil OCPD Emmanuel Opuru said the man attacked his wife after a domestic quarrel.
The suspect was recently released from prison after he was jailed for attempting to rape his daughter.
Opuru said the suspect used a sharp object to attack his wife adding that they are yet to establish the motive of the killing.
“The woman had deep cuts all over her face and some fingers had been chopped using a sharp object. The body has been collected and taken to Gilgil Hospital mortuary,” said Opuru as quoted by standardmedia.co.ke.
OCPD Opuru said the suspect managed to escape after committing the crime on Tuesday but they have launched a manhunt.
A neighbor, Mary Akome, said they heard the woman scream in the house but she went silent before they could respond.
An hour later, Akome said they were shocked to learn that the woman was dead after the couple’s children informed them of what had transpired.
“The man, since he was released from prison, has been accusing the woman of infidelity when he was incarcerated and we suspect this is the motive of the murder,” she said.
