Ailing NASA Chief Executive Norman Magaya has dismissed claims that he has been abandoned by Raila Odinga's ODM, barely a day after complaints emerged.
Seth Odongo, a confidant of Suna East MP Junet Mohamed, accused ODM leadership of allegedly abandoning Mr Magaya, who is suffering from a heart condition.
"Some people were saying Mr Kawino (Finance Director) is the problem, or Charles Memba (Accountant); but I reject these insinuations. If the party leader made a pronouncement on Magaya, it is the ED to effect it. If not, that matter goes to the SG," he claimed.
So weighty were the claims that even the ODM party was forced to respond, insisting that the information wasn't true. The party said it has been standing with Magaya.
"The ODM Party is aware that Nasa CEO Norman Magaya has been unwell. We continue to support him in every possible way and wish him quick recovery. Every request for support has been dealt with as and when received by the party," read the tweet from the party.
In a tweet, Magaya who was appointed to Films and Classification Board, dismissed the claims that he had been abandoned, adding that both Raila's ODM and NASA have stood with him.
In May this year, Magaya was pictured with Mr Odinga at Nairobi Hospital. According to Mr Odongo, Magaya may have been poisoned at Bomas of Kenya in 2017.
"I have had a recurrent heart condition for the past four months and been admitted in hospital on three occasions latest being last week .On all occasions both the coalition leadership and the @TheODMparty have stood with me," he said.
The claims caused uproar on social media with Jubilee blogger and State House Secretary for Digital Innovation Dennis Itumbi asking Kenyans to fundraise for Magaya.
In an earlier tweet, Magaya had however decried his dwindling finance fortunes, a move that indicates that he could be in a financial crisis.
