Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha has weighed in on a structurally unsound bridge in Fuata Nyayo, Kibra that is said to pose a potential danger.
The bridge connects a number of schools in Kibra constituency.
Fielding a question from a journalist, the tough-talking Cabinet Secretary said he would raise the matter of the bridge with his Transport, Infrastructure and Urban Development counterpart James Macharia and present himself at Fuata Nyayo at his own time to assess the situation for himself.
He pledged to ensure the matter is addressed so as to remove the danger that the bridge is feared to pose.
"I will take it up with the CS Macharia. I will also go there at my own time. I will take it up with CS Macharia and I want to assure that that bridge shall be sorted out, " Prof George Magoha said. assured.
Prof Magoha was in Kibra amid a crackdown on schools that have not met the standards set out by the Ministry of Education.
The crackdown comes in the wake of the deadly collapse of a building at the Precious Talents School that left 8 pupils dead and scores nursing serious injuries.
Critics have disparaged the crackdown as damage limitation gimmicks undertaken by the Ministry of Education to create the perception that something significant is being done.
