Nyamira County Assembly committee members have been urged by the county speaker to expedite investigations into various reports of enquiry that affect the general public for efficiency.
Speaking on Wednesday evening at the Guardian Hotel, Speaker Joash Nyamoko said many reports that had been requested by members of the public were still pending due to inability of committee members to work in speed.
Nyamoko urged committee chairpersons to expedite serious enquiry matters and subsequently table the reports for discussions in the assembly to improve service delivery to citizens.
“My office has received a number of petitions from members of the public that I directed relevant committees to expedite the enquiry. One such case is the alleged corruption in the department of youth and sports. Committee members have to work extra hours to improve service delivery,” he said.
Nyamoko said his office had summoned all committee chairpersons for a crucial meeting on Friday to deliberate on serious issues among them the timeline for reports submissions for discussion.
“My office has been working under pressure and i had to summon committee chairs on Friday to discuss several issues, among them timelines. We must be timely in serving the public,” he added.
The speaker said this when he received representatives from Gesima ward who had sanctioned the health committee to give a detailed report on tendering and construction of Kambini Health Center which has not started operating despite its completion.
