Baringo County leader of majority Simon Kalekem has called on the Kenya Defense Forces to be extremely careful when carrying out the Baringo operations to prevent civilians from getting injured.
Kalekem said that the use of heavy machines in search of criminals in the area could end up hurting innocent residents.
“The bombs that they use could kill people who know nothing about the current operations,” he said at a press conference at the Naivasha country club
“In your search for bandits do not hurt everybody who crosses your paths. We appeal to the police to use the right intelligence while carrying out the process.
“We suggest that they can also engage old men, women and public barazas to help in resolving the conflicts,” he added.
Kalekem also suggested for dialogue for leaders from both communities.
Laikipia University Naivasha campus student leader Erastus Lesaris blamed the local political leaders for the raging war in the area.
“Politicians are the ones who are fuelling and funding the war. Yet, they are well known and can easily be traced. We appeal to the government to bring them before the court of law,” he said.
The security forces are camped in the area to recover guns of more than 20 police officers killed in Kapedo a few days ago.
