The area Deputy County Commissioner Samson Diero Akatch said many widows suffer from the hands of wife inheritors. He says most of these widows don’t take time to know the background of such men who later turn out to be violent.

Akatch said that if it is must that a widow be inherited then they should engage the entire family in a serious consultation to decide on whom to inherit her and must be within the family circle.

He said that it has been realized that a number of wife inheritors whose identities are not known are jetting into the region and therefore warned young widows to avoid such people.

Speaking during a public baraza, the commissioner cited an example of a certain inheritor who was attempting to defile the daughters of the widow he inherited after burning the house into ashes.

“All the wife inheritors in this region must be vetted and their personal records documented for security reasons,” He ordered.

This comes barely three months after the body a notorious wife inheritor at Kapiyo village was found in abandoned house at Kapiyo market center and the body is still lying at Bondo sub-county hospital
