According to Kisumu branch National Director of Children Affair Charles Ondogo the programme will help children not to be involved in child labour.

"We are implementing a programme called cash transfer for orphaned children,” said Ondogo.

“We are currently supporting over 9,000 households. We are giving them Sh2000 every month. This will ensure that children attend school without interference,” notes Ondongo.

He added that the constitution protects children under 18 years from child labour where it indicates that minors should not be engaged any form of employment.

"We encourage work that will socialise the child and not in the expense of child education," added Ondongo.

He urged residents to report anything affecting children to their offices noting that each sub county has children department office
