Speaking at Nakuru town, Ngunjiri said that rogue drivers and motorists should not be given chance to operate on roads as a way of reducing number of deaths resulting from accidents.

He said that road accidents that were common during the festive season would be reduced only if the government took a stiff action against the flouters.

“The government should make sure that all motorists adhere to traffic laws,” said Ngunjiri.

The MP alleged that Nakuru highways have a bad history of accidents and that the county government should do something to eradicate such deaths.

He called for deployment of more police traffic officers to deal with rogue motorists in the county.

Ngunjiri also asked passengers to refrain from boarding vehicles that were already fully packed to avoid overloading which is one of the contributing factors causing road accident.

“Passengers, to some extent, also contribute to rise of road accidents cases since they entertain the habit of overloading by PSV operators. Law should apply all and those passengers found in vehicles as excess passengers should also be arrested,” warned Ngunjiri.

Meanwhile, National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) chairman Francis Meja has warned errant motorists that their time to be tamed had come.

Meja said that the authority had in place policies and measures to curb road accidents especially this festive season.

The chairman warned that licenses of Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) which will be found flouting traffic rules will be revoked immediately.
