Speaking at Limuru shopping centre on Friday, the MCA raised concerns over the rise in crime which is allegedly being spearheaded by youths.

The MCA said that young people are largely falling into crime because of they lack job opportunities and mentors.

“It is unfortunate that most of our young people have resulted to crime as a result of unemployment,” he said.

Murugami indicated that the trend is worrying and that the area would soon lose future leaders if nothing is not done urgently.

The MCA asked the government to put in place more measures that will empower young people. He lauded the initiatives that have been put in place so far to curb unemployment.

The leader further asked the county government to initiate programmes that will improve the lives of residents.

He stated that residents have the right to demand for good services which political leaders should be willing and ready to provide.

He further called for unity among leaders in the county saying unity is critical for realization of development.
