Nyaribari Masaba Constituency MP, Elijah Moindi, has given out Uwezo funds to various youths, women and persons living with disability groups in the constituency.
Moindi called on those who received the money to use it to improve their lives by investing in profit making projects.
“I have given the funds to successful groups that had applied for the money and I want to ask the youth not to use the money to drink or for marrying but invest in it to make profit,” said Moindi.
He said that they were given Sh15 million and he has only given out Sh5 million adding that he has asked all the chiefs and their assistants to check on how the groups will be doing with their money.
Cliff Ontita a youth leader in the area noted that most groups did not apply for the money because they did not have information on how to go about it.
Ontita said that the groups also need to be educated on how they can access the money in the coming future.
