A section of Nakuru residents are now demanding the resignation of Adan Duale for failing to name the financiers of Al Shabaab in Kenya.
The irate residents claimed that the delaying of the naming process by the majority leader might pave way for another attack.
“Why does he need a whole month to name the financiers? Why is he protecting them? If he knows who they are, why is he not being open and fair,” wondered Joseph Mureithi.
The residents said that naming Al Shabaab financiers and sympathisers would help stem the problem.
“If the financiers are stopped, they cannot have any means of purchasing and using the deadly weapons that they used to attack the students,” said Martin Kamotho, a resident.
The residents were speaking on Tuesday morning at Shabab area where they also petitioned parliament to probe Duale for his role in withholding information on the vigilante group.
“He seems to know more than he is willing to share. Yet this might be the only way we can prevent future attacks. We are appealing to the government to force him to say what he knows,” said Frank Onyango.
Another resident, Fred Maina, accused the majority leader in parliament of putting his interests first.
“Whatever he is doing is clearly not in the interest of Kenyans but for his own good,” he added.
The call comes after North Eastern leaders promised to reveal those behind financing the terror group in Kenya.
Speaking at a press conference at the Boma Hotel in Nairobi on Monday, the leaders said they will give fifteen million shillings to the families whose loved ones were affected by the Garrissa University College attack.
The leaders vowed to work with Muslim religious leaders to expose those using Islam for radicalisation of the youth.
