The company employee, Bernard Makori, who went to report the matter to Kisii police station was held for a day before being released.

Makori claims that factory workers in the production section had been ordered to pack the seven grades mixing with the end product that is a waste.

He added that colleagues had receipts of the sold packs of tea leaves over the factory gate which were not consumable or not fit for human consumption.

On reaching the police station, Makori was welcomed with a charge, which he said he was not aware of. The officer who was to handle his complaint claimed he had in the first initial case given the court false information, confiscating the samples of counterfeit tea leaves he had brought as evidence.

“I have been detained wrongfully for the management of the factory don’t want being held responsible,” Makori claimed, adding that the previous case where he had sued the factory on unprocedural dismissal was done with and the judgment given out in Kisumu.

He vowed to make it public that the factory is misusing the Kenya Bureau of standards rubber stamps the wrong way and not on the basis of quality but illegal business of selling mixed samples which may be poisonous to the consumer.

No management official was available to shade more light on the whole issue but farmers flocked Kisii central police station for the release of Makori.
