Yatta residents on Monday afternoon converged and conducted a three-hour cleansing session along Thika-Garissa road.
The residents led by Full gospel church pastor Jonathan Masila walked from Makutano to Iviani making stop-overs to dedicate the road.
Masila explained that a lot of lives were being lost in the roads through frequent accidents.
"The reason we held the prayers is that we have seen countless accidents that have claimed lives, some of them seem mysterious that we can't explain that's why we felt the need to do something," said Masila.
"News about death brought about by accidents have been the order of the day more so between Kithimani and Matuu areas and we took the step of faith and we believe God will do something," he added.
Families who had lost their kins in accidents along that road were not left out in the session.
The cleansing comes just four days after two people lost their lives and two sustained injuries after their vehicle's tyre burst a few meters from Matuu town towards Kanyonyoo.
The vehicle was heading to Mwingi before the tragedy.
