In his statement to newsrooms, Governor Mbugua said that the festive season is the time for sharing and therefore urged Kenyans to use the festive season to help, bond and get to know each other to make friendship.

“We should use the festive season to remember the less fortunate members of the society with gifts and presents,” said Mbugua.

Mbugua assured residents of their safety saying that security measures were being implemented and put in place.

The governor warned that no criminal elements will be allowed to cause havoc and that residents should celebrate without fear.

The county boss also said that police operations and patrols will be conducted in areas perceived to be crime prone.

Mbugua urged the public to conduct themselves in appropriate manner and stop overindulgence that would cause breach of law.

The governor also urged leaders across the county to be ambassadors of peace and preach unity among Kenyans.

He wished residents a merry Christmas and prosperous 2015.

The statement came barely a day after Nakuru police boss Bernard Kioko told all Christmas event organisers, and those planning to “kesha” to register with his office as way to ensure security of the locals.

Kioko has also warned revellers against roaming aimlessly during the festive season saying such people will be locked up.

Addressing the press in his office this morning, Kioko said that police will be on standby to deal with anyone who has the intention of causing havoc within town during the night.
