Inmates at the Naivasha prison have appealed to well-wishers to visit them during the festive seasons. The inmates argued that they often felt lonely and rejected as their day went unnoticed. They appealed to their family members to take advantage of the festive season and come to see them. “We also would enjoy the same emails that they enjoyed while celebrating Christmas. We appeal to our family members to come and share their chapatis, chicken and mukimu with us,” said Kaberia Itaaru, who is serving a life sentence. He urged family members to accept the fact that even though they were behind bars, they still needed their love and acceptance. “We have accepted our mistakes and repented. We are sorry for everything and we would never wish to be behind bars. I would do anything to be with my family again and sharing the joy of Christmas is the only way we can be together,” he added Another inmate, Grace Wanjiru, called on the government to allow their families meet their young children who were delivered when they were behind bards “Our children will grow up without knowing their relatives if they do not come to visit. We are appealing to our relatives to come and at least know how they are doing,” she added Officer in Charge of the Naivasha Maximum Prison Patrick Mwenda also called on the relatives to pay them a visit. “They are reformed and have learnt a lot while behind bars. It’s important for them to support , love and care,” he added
