Thika town Community Policing Chairman Paul Jomo has asked locals and the business community to support government’s security measures.
Addressing reporters on Tuesday at Blue Post Thika bus terminus, Mr Jomo said that law agencies are in full gear to handle any elements of crime.
The policing chairman said that locals across Thika Sub County have been enlightened on Nyumba Kumi security initiative.
He said that if properly embraced, the Nyumba Kumi would greatly reduce crime.
“We want to assure Thika residents and the business community that their safety has been guaranteed,” he said.
Jomo said that door to door campaigns are ongoing with the aim t o ensure locals are well educated about Nyumba Kumi.
He however said that residents must supplement the government measures by keeping vigil and reporting suspicious acts.
He also asked residents to embrace unity noting that it will help the sub county achieve development.
On the same note, the official said that investigations have been launched into claims that some people posing as security officers are extorting money from businessmen.
Jomo stated that he has raised the compliant with security officials in the county and that action would be taken soon. He asked any person with evidence about the claims to write statements with the police.
