Heavy rains continue to wreck havoc in various parts of the country with the latest incident being the closure of a school in Teso North Sub County in Busia County.
Bernard Oketch who is the headteacher of Akiriamasit Primary School which was affected by the floods claimed the decision to suspend learning at the school was so as to ensure safety of the pupils.
“We have deemed it wise to close the school until next Tuesday as we wait to recede before we close on Friday," Mr. Oketch stated as quoted by Nation.
The school has nonetheless pleaded with the government to help in creating measures that will ensure the standard eight pupils sit for Kenya Certificate of Primary Education examinations.
He however suggested that the only other option they are left with is to transfer the candidates to another school.
“The only option is to transfer the candidates to neighbouring Amoni Primary School," he added.
Commuters from Malaba and Busia towns were on the other hand left stranded after River malakisi over flooded and swept away a bridge on the road.
The reports from Busia county come shortly after four people died when car they were in was swept by floods in Mwingi, Kitui.
The heavy rains and floods are being witnessed in various parts of the country.
