Monday was a new day - a big one - as students joined Form One but the same cannot be said for one Levis Otieno.
Otieno became an instant internet sensation on Monday after a picture of him and an empty metal box with just two bar soaps went out on social media.
He was admitted at Kanga School in Migori where he was accompanied by his mother Monica Otieno for admission.
He scored 391 marks in the 2019 KCPE but could not even raise his school fee.
"I'm appealing to any well-wisher to assist me in paying my school fee. I am worried that I do not have any option as my parents have no income," the young boy appealed, according to a report on Ureport.
His mother added that; "I do not have any money to pay his school uniform and pay his fees or any other necessity."
Following the viral photo, a pay bill was generated in a bid to raise school fees for Otieno.
Among the well-wishers was Milele FM presenter Jalang'o who said that he will help in schooling the boy.
"Last night I spoke to the Principal and also got the chance to speak with the boy Levi Otieno Rabah. The work begins today! School fares are around 53k per year we want to pay for the four years," Jalang'o wrote in part on his Facebook page, Tuesday.
