Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot has defended former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka following his remarks about working with Deputy President William Ruto.
In a tweet on Wednesday, Kalonzo denied claims that he was closely crafting a working relationship with the DP ahead of 2022 polls.
His ally, Johnstone Muthama had earlier hinted that the two leaders were discussing possible ways of working together in 2022.
"In the light of recent conversations and speculations about working with the DP, please note that these speculations are malicious," he said.
"They are a desperate attempt to drive a wedge between me and HE the President and have failed. Remarks by individuals should not be attributed to me."
However, according to Cheruiyot, Kalonzo Musyoka's remarks were appropriate, arguing that anyone working with Ruto faces an onslaught from the state.
He insisted that those who have expressed interest in working with the DP have been victims of intimidations.
"DP's supporters should go easy on Kalonzo. What he said is illogical yet so true. Lately, any MP, CS, PS or leader who appears to be working with the DP is viciously fought & intimidated," he said.
"Utterly disgusting & hypocritical in this BBI season. Let Stevo be. Msimkatie Mrija," added Cheruiyot, a close ally of DP William Ruto.
Ruto is keen to form alliances ahead of 2022 polls, with Kalonzo's team lately distancing itself from ODM leader Raila Odinga
