Taita Taveta Governor Granton Samboja on Tuesday signed a petition that is intending to have the county dissolved over budget row.
The Wiper governor accuses MCAs of sabotaging his administration through huge allocations of money to Ward Development kitty contrary to the law.
Last week, MCAs passed a budget worth Sh5.3 billion for 2019/20 financial year. In the budget, MCAs allocated themselves Sh850 million with each ward expecting Sh41 million.
The first term governor now wants the county to be dissolved arguing that the crisis will not enable him to discharge his duties effectively as a governor.
"There are no medicine in county health facilities. Water is a challenge to many residents yet they (MCAs) want to allocate themselves huge sums of money," he said.
The Constitution only allows for suspension of a county government by the President in case of an emergency arising out of internal conflict or war; or in any other exceptional circumstances.
Once the petition gets majority backing from the people, it will be forwarded to President Uhuru Kenyatta. The Head of State will form a commission which will investigate the matter and make recommendations.
If the allegations are ascertained, the county government will be dissolved and all elected leaders will br subjected to fresh elections.
