Igegania District Hospital will now offer theatre services after a theatre unit built using the constituency development funds was launched on Friday by the area Member of Parliament Kigo Njenga.
Speaking during the launch, Kigo noted that the growing hospital was getting approximately 5 theatre patients daily only to refer them to Gatundu District Hospital for the service due to the lack of a proper theatre unit.
The unit that costed Sh2.9 million from the CDF health docket also received equipments amounting to Kshs. 1.3 million to help the hospital offer the service efficiently.
"Gatundu North CDF has been in the forefront of providing health care services to our people. This being the only district hospital here, we are now launching a theatre unit that will enable our people to receive better service," he said.
Kigo affirmed that the hospital is continuing to improve its services and has on that regard urged the county government to recruit more staff especially doctors and other theatre professionals as the CDF targets to open more specialised clinics within the sub county.
"With a new theatre unit, I urge the county government to recruit theatre nurses and other relevant professionals to aid in offering effective services to our people," said Kigo.
