Leaders in Nakuru Sub-county have been urged to unite and work together for the sake of development and co-existence in the region. Nominated Member of the County Assembly Moses Njiiri echoed these sentiments in an exclusive with this writer at the Nakuru County Assembly grounds. According to the MCA continued wrangles and counter-accusations pitying elected leaders in the region was a bad signal to the electorate who deserve good service from the leaders. He noted that all elected leaders in the Sub-county irrespective of their political affiliations including county and legislative leaders all have a role to play in uniting residents while offering public service to them. “We were all elected to serve our electorates and I urge all elected leaders to unite and work together in uniting and serving wananchi in Nakuru. Wrangles and accusations will only hurt service to wananchi and not benefit any leader,’’ he retorted. The MCA further advised local leaders to solve their problems amicably instead of dragging the public into their affairs noting that continued wrangling and accusations among leaders erodes public confidence in leaders. He was reacting to the recent accusations by a section of Members of Parliament directed to the Nakuru County Governor Kinuthia Mbugua for exercising dictatorship in his administrative duties. An MP who led hundreds of hawkers in demonstrating against a decision by the county government to evict hawkers from the Central Business District was injured by police and has since threatened to take legal action against police officers who attacked him during the demonstration.
