The family of a police officer in Kiambu County is demanding a thorough probe into his mysterious death on Friday. Administration police senior sergeant Musa Kiplangat Barmassai alias “Sonko” has refuted police version that Barmassai shot himself accidentally at Kang'aithi village in Kiambu County Speaking to the press at their home in Muthengera village, his wife Anne Mumbi, said they suspected foul play and are demanding for an independent probe to establish the cause of her husband’s death. Mumbi added that her husband’s right arm had been paralysed for long and hence it would not be possible to shoot himself on his left arm and thigh as was reported by Kamwangi central police authorities. On Saturday, Kiambu North DCIO Kaleve Kulova told reporters that Barmassai died of a bullet wound after he accidentally shot himself. He added that the dead officer, who was attached at the Kiambu Deputy County commissioner’s office allegedly shot himself at 3am while cleaning a ceska pistol at a friend’s house. Mumbi said that the death is shrouded in mystery, claiming even the scene of the accident had been tampered with by the time police officers arrived there. She questioned why it also took several hours before his colleagues were informed of the incident just three kilometres away from his place of work.
