A man has been arrested at Kaewa market in Masinga Sub County in Machakos County for pretending to be a health official from the ministry of health.
The man was causing panic in the market while pretending to inspect hotels and butcheries in the market. Many hotels and butcheries were temporarily closed after the news of the presence of “health officer” spread to similar businesses in the market.
The man was arrested by the area assistant chief, Josphat Mawia, after been unable to produce any document to proof that he was a public health officer.
Confirming the incident, Mawia said that the man was an imposter and had no relevant identification documents to show that he was a genuine health officer.
He advised the residents that it is their right to demand identification documents from any person claiming to be a public health officer.
The impostor was arrested while conducting the “inspection” and terrifying business owners especially those who owned hotels and butcheries.
Mawia said that the man was been held at Kikuumini Police Post and will be arraigned in court on Monday.
