Kiambu county government has set aside Sh180 million to rehabilitate markets in Limuru, Githunguri and Kiambu town, Governor William Kabogo has said.
Speaking to media on Thursday in Kiambu, Kabogo said that the move is meant to ensure traders have appropriate environment to conduct their business.
He said that renovation and repair of the markets in the sub counties will begin soon adding that the same will be extended across the county.
The Governor said that the rehabiliation will include repair of drainage systems which traders have been complaining about.
“We have set aside enough money that will see the rehabilitation of all markets and trading centers across the county,” said Kabogo.
The county Governor said that his government is committed to immprove the lives of residents. He asked traders to remit their taxes on time to enable the county to address the issues affecting them.
He further asked traders to work with law enforcers and address rising insecurity.
“My appeal is to you (traders) is to work with the police in order to arrest criminals and curb insecurity,” he said.
Kabogo indicated that a plan to light up all the wards in the county is underway adding that lighting up the streets will boosts security and promote 24-hour economy.
