Speaking to the press at Nakuru’s Railways’ Bus terminus on Tuesday, Munyao said that most accidents are caused by unroadworthy vehicles.

“NTSA has organised for inspection to get rid of unworthy road vehicles across the country,” he said.

He said the exercise will target both the Public Service Vehicles (PSVs) and the owners of private vehicles.

The director asked vehicle owners to ensure their vehicles meet all the set standards required to be on the road.

Munyao added that the move is meant to reduce road accidents that are common during the festive season.

He also warned errant motorists saying that they will soon be arrested to face the law. He noted that licences of motorists who will be found flouting traffic rules will be revoked.

The director further asked motorists plying the Nairobi-Nakuru highway to be very careful and help reduce accidents that are common experienced on the highway.

He said NTSA is working closely with the traffic department and that more traffic officers will be deployed to major highways across the country.
